This is one of my three go-to Mates. The flavor is a little on the stronger side than others I am accustomed to -- on par with most smoked mates -- with the more pure taste of the leaf. The mix of sticks and dust is well-balanced. The way I like to pour from the side straight to the bottom of the guard so that it fills from the bottom -- happens more consistently with the Isondu traditional than any other. When I am close to needing to reorder I will place an order early because the Isondu is not always available -- that is how much I enjoy it.
Good stuff
I bought this a few months ago and the package was secured and nothing leaked out. The Isondu Barbacua was smoky, delicious, and fresh. Better than the one I bought from the other website. I am definitely buying Yerba Mate from this website again.
I wouldn't use this one for a "daily drinker" but it's fun on occasion and I could see pairing it with certain foods. Very smokey flavor, it tastes like the mate has actually been barbecued.
The traditional barbaqua style of smoking and aging gives this maté a strong and robust smokiness that is reminiscent of a campfire, with a deep aged taste comparative to lighter matés, you can taste the strength of the nutrient soil it's grown from, it is the essence of what a traditionally smoked yerba maté should be.
