GYM Roasted Yerba Mate 400 g (14 oz)

I must say I only got a small bag of this, was not sure if I'd like it, but its absolutely amazing, smokey but has a dark chocolate aftertaste, truly amazing product

This is a great change from my regular yerba mate. For me, the taste is similar to other roasted grain beverages that have been used as coffee substitutes over the years. Roasted yerba mate is a great companion to sweet pastries or cookies (I like it with short bread). I have also found a good mix by adding a teaspoon of cacao nibs (pieces of cacao or cocoa beans). I'm going to have to keep some of this in my cupboard all of the time.

This roasted Mate' is a completely new experience. A full bodied dark brew that has deep, long lasting flavor with notes of dried fruit and coffee. Pairs well with other flavors especially the Salante blend.

I was hesitant when I first purchased this roasted yerba mate as I had always had non-roasted; however, this stuff is really good! I add a little honey to it and the roasted flavor is really nice. I encourage you to give it a try. Get the free sample if you're not sure. Just try it.

This one is not for me, but the flavor is interesting. I found myself not really liking it...but still taking the next sip because it was unfamiliar and I was curious.Smell: If you know the smell of wet campfire ashes, this smells very similar. Not a bad smell, though not appetizing to me.Flavor: To me this pretty much tastes like smoke and not much else. After a while it mellows out, but still tastes like mostly like smoke.After reading other reviews I was hoping this would be sort a halfway between yerba and coffee; some of the woody/grassy brightness of yerba mixed with the roasty flavor of coffe. I don't get any of that from this roasted yerba, it has it's own flavor that is unlike anything I have tried before.I would recommend trying a sample of this, the flavor is distinctive and you may find that you love it. I prefer the premium cut and the instant powder, and will stick with those.
