I like the ecological paper packaging. This one from Paraguay is harvested on Waning Moon quarter. I'm going to try it Tereré style.
I love the aroma and flavor of this maté; Lightly smoked and not too bitter, just the right amount of green flavor. The small scale production and ethics appeal to me, and the maté is of very high quality. Solid consistency of flavor and effect. Some fines make drinking with certain bombillas challenging but I brew in French press and it makes for rich brew.
Onioru is among my favorite mates. Somehow, it reminds me of how mate would have been fifty years ago (when I wasn't drinking it). Inconsistent in stems and dust becomes a fidelity to consistency of taste. I appreciate this mate and trust it so easily that even when the site said it was beyond its date, I ordered it anyway -- is there a higher recommendation?
If you like smoked flavor this is a great one! One of my favorites.
A new instant Paraguayan favourite of mine; good balance of smoke, earth and sweetness. I drink this mate warm, as opposed to ice cold. Smokiness is not overpowering; notes of roasted nuts, sweet hay, smoked oysters. Creamy, with a nice level of sour on the finish. Good stuff, possibly my daily driver until this batch runs out. Great value!
